Code of Conduct

  1. Arrive before class begins. If you come in late, wait for coach permission to join.
  2. If you need to leave class earlier, ask permission from the coach.
  3. Remove shoes before entering the mat. Always bow when entering or leaving the mat.
  4. At the start of a class line up by rank (senior students to right side).
  5. Bow to the coach or any other black belt to greet to show respect as you enter or leave the mat.
  6. Don’t wear watches, or any jewellery (earrings, necklaces, chains, rings, hair clasps) or anything hard or metal.
  7. Do no drink or eat in the mat.
  8. Keep your gear clean and nails short (fingernails and toenails) at all the time; also maintain your body hygiene.
  9. Junior students are expected to look to seniors for guidance, imitate their behaviour, and treat them with respect and consideration.
  10. Senior students are expected to set a good example for juniors, protect them from injury, help them learn, and treat them with respect and consideration.
  11. During the class don’t teach any unrelated new techniques to the students unless asked to do so by your coach.
  12. Don’t talk when the coach is teaching to the class.
